About the Podcast

The idea for My Voice – Untold stories from immigrants in Sweden, began with a simple need — the need to tell my own story. Living across cultures is a deeply personal experience. Over the past 13 years in Sweden, I have met many people who have also made this journey — young and old, newly arrived and those who have been here for many years. Through these encounters, I began to notice something meaningful: while every story is unique, there are also shared experiences that connect us.

For me, it made a real difference to speak with someone who understood — even in a small way — what I was going through. At the same time, I began to reflect on how these stories are often not heard. It can sometimes be easy to view immigrants as one group with one single story, when in reality every individual experience is different.

Many of the conversations about immigrants in public media tend to be related to political reforms, laws or sensational news headlines. There is less space for personal voices, where immigrants in Sweden share everyday experiences about studies, work, culture, relationships, integration, identity and the quieter parts of life.

This podcast is an attempt to create such a space. My Voice is a place where immigrants in Sweden can share their own stories — in their own words, in their own voices. Stories can be big or small, ordinary or life-changing. What matters is that they are real and personal. This is not a fixed format or a finished idea. The direction of this podcast will be shaped by the stories that are shared here.

It begins with one voice.

And it grows, one story at a time.

About the host

I am the person behind My Voice and the platform Living Across Cultures.

I have lived in Sweden for over 13 years, navigating life between cultures — learning, adapting, and trying to find a sense of belonging along the way. Through my own journey, I have come to understand how personal and varied the experience of migration can be.

This podcast is not about speaking for others, but about creating space where others can speak for themselves.

I approach every story with care, respect, and confidentiality.
